The Pastoral Council is the guiding leadership body for Christ Our Hope Catholic Church in collaboration with our Pastoral Coordinator. The all-volunteer members of the Pastoral Council are actively involved in church life in each ministry throughout our parish.
October 2021
Earlier this year, the South Seattle Deanery invited Christ Our Hope Catholic Church to join in signing and sharing a message from the Catholic Bishops in partnership with the Tyler Clementi Foundation on our calling to welcome and protect LGBTQ+ youth.
Tyler Clementi was a young student in New York who died by suicide after being bullied and harassed due to his sexuality. The Tyler Clementi Foundation was founded by the Clementi family to prevent bullying by promoting the inclusion and asserting the dignity of all people, but especially LGBTQ+ youth. The Pastoral Council of Christ Our Hope, whose most recent meeting coincided with the 11thanniversary of Tyler Clementi’s tragic death, voted for our parish to join our sister churches and bishops in affirming and amplifying the message that all people of good will should help, support, and defend LGBTQ+ youth.
As said in our mission, Christ Our Hope Catholic Church is called to be a beacon of light where all are welcome to grow in faith, hope, and love. To be inclusive and to engage in compassionate outreach is core to our faith. With this faith in mind, it is our hope and determination that our church will only grow in love for our neighbors, especially our LGBTQ+ youth, who are wonderfully made and loved by God.
